ASWAN

Aswan, which is south of Luxor is known mainly for its dam. The Aswan Dam which is over 100 years old is closer to the city and allows water to gradually go down hill toward Cairo. More recently, the Russians and Egyptians built the High Dam which is about 10 miles farther north. This dam produces a tremendous about of energy for Egypt and surrounding countries.
